Dear Parent/Guardian and Student:

Welcome to Encina High School for the 2026–27 school year!

It is my pleasure to welcome you to another exciting year at Encina High School, where we proudly serve students in grades 9–12. As your principal, I am looking forward to all that we will accomplish together in the coming year. This marks my 13th year as an administrator in San Juan Unified School District, my sixth year as principal of Encina High School, and more than twenty years in education. I deeply value family engagement and believe that strong partnerships between school and home are essential to student success.

At Encina, we continue to make tremendous strides in strengthening both the academic and social-emotional experiences of our students. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and empowered to achieve their goals.

Our dedicated staff remains focused on delivering high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that prepares students for success in college, career, and life. Through our AVID and Advocacy programs, students receive the guidance, support, and skills needed to successfully navigate high school and pursue their aspirations beyond graduation.

Encina offers a variety of opportunities that allow students to explore their interests and prepare for future careers. We proudly offer three Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways in Dental, Construction, and Teaching. In addition, we continue to expand our Advanced Placement (AP) courses and Dual Enrollment offerings through our partnership with American River College, providing students with valuable opportunities to earn college credit while in high school.

We are also excited to increase our elective offerings this year by adding Band, Music, and Photography, creating even more opportunities for students to discover and develop their passions. Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program remains a cornerstone of our efforts to foster a positive, respectful, and welcoming school culture.

As educators, we are committed to social justice, equity, inclusive practices, and maintaining high expectations for every student. Our work is guided by our vision:
